Doncaster Markets named Britain’s Favourite

Britain’s public have voted Doncaster Markets to be ‘Britain’s Favourite Market’.

The prestigious prize was awarded by the National Association of British Market Authorities following an online public vote.

This is the second year that Doncaster Markets has walked away from the awards with a top accolade. Last year, the markets scooped the award for Britain’s Best Market 2011.

Mayor Peter Davies said, “The people have voted and this is proves what many of us already knew - that Doncaster’s Markets are Britain’s favourite.

“Our historic markets continue to attract thousands of shoppers from far and wide who come for the diverse range of stalls selling high quality, excellent value goods and foods.”

The award comes on the back of a £150,000 refurbishment project which has helped revamp the vibrant market areas. This has included decorating the food hall, restoring the roofing, improving the public toilets, large screen televisions and a promotional leaflet to bring more shoppers to the town.
