Residents celebrating Burns Night need look no further than Doncaster Markets for all their haggis needs.

A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns. The suppers are normally held on or near the poet's birthday, 25 January.

Burns suppers typically include haggis (a traditional Scottish dish), Scotch whisky and the recitation of Burns' poetry.

Ingredients needed to make a haggis include meat, onions, oatmeal and spices.  All of these are available from Doncaster markets, but if you don’t fancy making your own then Wilkinson’s Butchers in the Market Hall have ready made haggis is in stock.

Peter Davies, Mayor of Doncaster, said: “Burns Night is a great opportunity for local people to find out more about Scottish culture and the poetry of Robert Burns.

“Don’t forget the swedes and potatoes to accompany the haggis which can be found in the fruit and vegetable market.”
