Dick Whittington turns again with his wonderful cat this year at Doncaster as the Civic Theatre knocks up 30 years not out with its famous Christmas Panto. The very best of festive fun for all the family will be on offer from Thursday 11 December to Sunday 4 January. This much-loved panto, loosely based on the real life of Richard Whittington, is a colourful tale of a boy from a poor family, who, upon hearing that the streets are paved with gold, sets out for London to make his fortune. This spectacular production stars Louis Emerick, best known for his role in Brookside and Last of the Summer Wine, as King Rat. Ventriloquist Naughty Nigel Harvey returns by popular demand in the role of Alderman Fitzwarren. Dick is played by local rising star and reigning Miss Doncaster, Annabel Jones with Harriet Payne as Alice (both from Doncaster's Rainbow Connection). Comedy abounds with the ever-youthful Danny Jay as Sarah the Cook and the lovely Lizzie Frances as Fairy Bow Bells. Local dancing talent in the form of the The Nellie Stagles Juveniles enhance this line up along with recently auditioned members of the Rita Procter Teensteppers. Early booking is recommended. Seats start from only £7.50 or £6.50 for Schools and OAP Matinees. Tickets are available by calling the Civic Theatre Box Office on 01302 342349 or visitng the website www.doncastercivic.co.uk
