Keepmoat wins award against international competition
6th July 2010

THE Keepmoat stadium has seen off competition from Anfield and the home of Dutch football champions FC Twente to win an award.

Keepmoat, the home of Doncaster Rovers, Belles and Dons, won the 'Best match day experience' title at the Stadium Business Awards, held in Dublin.

Shane Chalmers, chief executive of the Stadium Management Company, said: “To say we are delighted doesn’t even begin to cover it.

“This award recognises all of the hard work our team puts in to making sure that visitors to Rovers, Belles and Dons games have an enjoyable visit. On a match day we have a team who work as stewards, run the kiosks, deal with tickets and ensure the ground looks great.

“To be up against De Grolsch Veste, in The Netherlands, and Anfield Road and win is really impressive. They are fantastic stadiums and we were honoured to be in a category alongside them.

“These awards attracted attention from across the world and give Doncaster a reason to celebrate.

“The eyes of the world are currently on stadium’s in South Africa as the World Cup takes place but it is great to know that for the best match day experience people should come to Doncaster.”

The judges for the awards, which pitched stadia from around the world against each other, praised Keepmoat for "showing that great matchday experiences are not confined to just the top clubs."
