Doncaster's amazing nightlife attracts visitors from far and
wide; film lovers, theatre aficionados, connoisseurs and party
revellers are attracted by the wide choice of restaurants, clubs
and bars creating a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere and a
reputation as one of the best night-time venues in the North. The variety of new venues that have opened recently are creating
identifiable areas of choice. The Copley Road and Netherhall area
for example is the place to go for small independent restaurants
serving cuisine from around the world. Priory Walk has a number of
contemporary venues from cappuccino bars to intimate jazz clubs and
the centre of town offers everything from well known chain pubs
such as Wetherspoons and Yates Wine Lodge to family owned
traditional pubs around the marketplace. A contemporary new performance venue will open in late 2006, the
centrepiece of an attractive civic and cultural quarter on the
south side of the town. Meanwhile, Doncaster Civic Theatre, The
Little Theatre and The Point provide a range of drama and musical
productions throughout the year. The Odeon is a town centre cinema
and the seven screen Vue Cinema is located within the Lakeside area
of Doncaster. Taxis are plentiful at night and to ensure visitors feel safe
Doncaster is monitored by CCTV cameras with help points located
throughout the Town Centre.
