Visitors to Doncaster will be pleasantly surprised by the vast choice of parks, woodlands, wetlands and nature reserves that abound in the 226 square miles that is the borough of Doncaster

Sprotbrough Flash, one of the spectacular features of the Don Gorge is accessible by riverside paths and trails leading from Sprotbrough lock and can be views by walkers enjoying the Trans Pennine Trail.  Nearby Denaby Ings, Thorpe Marsh and Potteric Carr are Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Sites with an incredible array of flora and fauna.

The Humberhead Peatlands and National Nature Reserve form the largest complex of lowland raised bogs in Britain supporting over 3000 recorded species of invertebrates.

The Countryside Community Environment Service deliver an annual programme of up to 50 public events and activities, ranging from active walks to more passive indoor activities and the annual 'grand event' the Doncaster Country Fair.
